Shows that a person or organization is forced by external reasons, pressure, accidents, or changing circumstances to accept an action or result.

The subject is the side being forced. It often follows nouns such as 変更, 中止, 延期, and 撤退.

台風の影響で、計画の変更を余儀なくされた。

Because of the typhoon, we were forced to change the plan.

Do not confuse it with 余儀なくさせる. With される, the forced side is the subject.

される shows that the pressure falls on the subject.
