Structure

plain form + んだって

Explanation

Reports information heard from someone else. It is conversational and often used when passing along newly heard news.

Usage

Common in casual conversation. In formal settings, use そうです or とのことです.

Example

田中さん、来月から大阪に転勤するんだって。

I heard Tanaka is being transferred to Osaka starting next month.

Common Mistake

Do not use it for facts you directly confirmed; it marks information you heard from someone else.

Think of んだって as passing along something someone told you.
