on the other hand; while

plain form + 一方で / noun + である + 一方で

一方で presents another side of the same matter, either as contrast or coexistence.

It is common when explaining pros and cons or two sides of a situation.

オンライン授業は便利な一方で、集中しにくいという問題もある。

Online classes are convenient, while they also have the problem of making it hard to concentrate.

Do not confuse it with temporal 間; this is another side of a situation or viewpoint.

When one matter has two sides, use 一方で.
