verb辞书形 + 予定だった / noun + の予定だった

Shows a plan or schedule that had already been set in the past, often with the nuance that things later changed or did not go as planned.

It is often followed by が or けれど to explain the change, but it can also simply state the original schedule.

本当は今日中に資料を送る予定だったが、確認に時間がかかった。

I was supposed to send the materials today, but the checks took time.

Do not use it for a current plan. Use 予定だ for an active plan, and 予定だった for a plan that existed in the past.

The past だった points to something that was once on the schedule.
