予定だ states an arranged plan or schedule.

It is more concrete than a temporary wish and is common for schedules.

来週、大阪へ出張する予定です。

I am scheduled to go on a business trip to Osaka next week.

Use の予定 after nouns, as in 会議の予定.

予定 is a plan placed on the schedule.
