別に + 否定形

別に～ない means not particularly or not really, often with a flat tone.

It is often used in replies to show indifference or no special issue.

その映画は別に嫌いではありませんが、もう一度見たいほどではありません。

I do not particularly dislike that movie, but not enough to want to watch it again.

It needs a negative ending; saying 別に alone can sound curt.

After 別に, look for a negative form.
