plain form + 場合 / noun + の場合

場合 states a situation or condition, followed by what to do, what happens, or what to note.

It is common in rules, notices, and relatively formal explanations.

地震が起きた場合は、エレベーターを使わないでください。

In the event of an earthquake, please do not use the elevator.

Use の場合 after nouns; do not say 地震場合.

場合 means 'case/situation.'
