Explanation

方が marks the side that is better, stronger, or preferred in a comparison.

Usage

It often pairs with より, but can stand alone when context is clear.

Example

この道より、あの道の方が近いです。

That road is closer than this one.

Common Mistake

より marks the baseline; 方が marks the side that stands out.
