案の定 + 句子

案の定 means that something turned out just as expected, usually after the result has actually occurred.

It is often used for negative or worrying outcomes, though neutral outcomes are also possible.

空が急に暗くなり、案の定、帰り道で雨が降り出した。

The sky suddenly grew dark, and sure enough, it started raining on the way home.

Do not use it for a simple future prediction; it is usually used after the result appears.

First there is an expectation, then the result confirms it: that is 案の定.
