自動詞 / 他動詞

Intransitive verbs describe events or state changes; transitive verbs describe someone acting on an object.

Transitive verbs often take を; intransitive verbs often use が for the changed subject.

ドアが開きました。私がドアを開けました。

The door opened. I opened the door.

Do not rely only on translation; learn pairs such as 開く/開ける together.

Memorize “自動詞/他動詞” as one fixed chunk, then practice by replacing words in the example sentence. Learn the connection first, then the nuance.
