Shows that the following event happens while a movement, action, or process is still underway.

Common for events that happen during processes such as commuting, meetings, study, or work.

駅へ行く途中で、偶然昔の友だちに会った。

On the way to the station, I happened to meet an old friend.

Do not use it after the action has ended; it emphasizes being in the middle of a process.

The road is not finished yet; something happens along the way.
