dictionary-form verb + 間に

間に means an action is completed or happens at some point within a time span.

The focus is on some point within the period.

子どもが寝ている間に、洗濯をしました。

I did the laundry while the child was asleep.

間 emphasizes the whole duration; 間に emphasizes an event within it.

The に marks a point inside the period.
