Explanation

頃 indicates an approximate time or period and can be read ころ or ごろ depending on context.

Usage

After clock times it is often ごろ; with life stages or seasons it is often ころ.

Example

子どもの頃、よく川で遊びました。

When I was a child, I often played by the river.

Common Mistake

Do not understand 頃 only as clock-time approximation; it can also mean a period of life or time.

Memory Tip

頃 is a fuzzy time period.
